Pearl Pierce is the thirteenth original album by Yumi Matsutoya, released by Toshiba EMI on 21 June 1982. It reached No. 1 on the Oricon weekly chart and ranked ninth for the year.[1]
Background
Matsutoya wrote all lyrics and music, and Masataka Matsutoya arranged every track.[1] The Pearl Pierce “Welcome to the Shining Time” tour ran from 13 September 1982 to 6 February 1983.[1]
Songs
“Yōkoso Kagayaku Jikan e” was adapted for the TBS drama Rouge no Dengon; “Yūsuzumi” was issued as a promotional single and is one of Matsutoya’s favourite summer songs; and “Dang Dang” was used in a 1984 Fujifilm commercial.[1] “Mukashi no Kare ni Au no Nara” reworks a 1976 song she had given to the group Ponytail.[1] Bernie Grundman remastered the album in 1999.[1]
