Aqua City is the debut album by S. Kiyotaka & Omega Tribe, released by Vap on 21 April 1983; it reached No. 4 on the Oricon chart.[1][2]
Background
The album followed the debut single “Summer Suspicion” into the top ten, and most of its songs were composed and arranged by Tetsuji Hayashi with lyrics by Yasushi Akimoto.[1] It was mastered digitally on a Sony PCM-1610, and the jacket was photographed on Kalakaua Avenue in Honolulu.[1][2]
Release and legacy
Aqua City sold more than 100,000 copies across records and cassettes, and its blue design and songs of summer and the sea fixed the group’s public image.[1] Hayashi’s ballad “Alone Again” is regarded by fans as a signature track; a remix edition, Aqua City Remix, opened the group’s 40th-anniversary series in 2021.[1]
