Moon Records is the label founded in 1982 by former RVC director Riuzo Kosugi, which released Tatsuro Yamashita’s Melodies and Mariya Takeuchi’s Variety and remains their home today.[1]
History
Kosugi left RVC with 16 staff in 1982 and set up Alfa Moon as an affiliate of Alfa Records, with distribution by Warner-Pioneer.[1] Its early roster included Tatsuro Yamashita, Mariya Takeuchi, Makoto Matsushita, Kazuto Murata, Junko Yagami and Kingo Hamada.[1]
Later years
In 1989 Moon merged with Mother and Children to form MMG, renamed East West Japan in 1993 and folded into Warner in 2003.[1] Moon continues as the private imprint for Yamashita and Takeuchi.[1]
