Momoko Kikuchi is a Japanese singer and actress whose 1980s idol albums leaned unusually far into sophisticated studio pop, and who scored seven consecutive Oricon No. 1 singles between 1985 and 1987.[1]
Career
Born in Shinagawa, Tokyo, in 1968, Kikuchi was scouted in 1982 and made her idol debut in 1984.[1] Her albums from Ocean Side (1984) to Adventure (1986) were released on Vap; she also recorded a 1985 soundtrack album with composer Tetsuji Hayashi.[1] In the late 1980s she formed the rock band RA-MU.[1]
Later career
Kikuchi has continued to act and record, celebrating her 30th anniversary in 2014 with re-recordings of her idol-era hits and releasing Shadow on Vap in 2022.[1]
