After moving to Tokyo in 1970, Yoshino played in WISH and the Tsunoda Hiro Space Band before forming the Fujimaru Band in 1973, which backed Hideki Saijo and released BGM (1975) on King Records. The One Line Band (Yellow Magic, 1978) was renamed Shōgun in 1979 as theme band for the drama Oretachi wa Tenshi da!; its debut single “Otokotachi no Melody” was a big hit, and Shōgun also scored the detective series Tantei Monogatari.[1]
AB’S and solo work
In 1982 Yoshino formed AB’S with Makoto Matsushita and Naoki Watanabe, releasing AB’S (1983), AB’S-2 (1984) and AB’S-3 (1985), the latter two recorded in London. His first solo album, Yoshino Fujimal, appeared on 21 July 1982, and his second, Romantic Guys, was recorded in Los Angeles in 1983 with David Foster and Robben Ford.[1] He later played on Shiro Sagisu’s music for Neon Genesis Evangelion and published the autobiography Lonely Man in the Bad City in 2017.[1]
